Aerial Photographs of Dover

This postcard shows the Cocheco Mill buildings on the left and City Hall in the center.

The Cocheco Mill buildings are in the center foreground, One Washington Center, previously known as the Clarostat building, is behind. You can see how the Cochecho River winds directly through the town.

Dover's Miracle Mile looking south from what was then known as the Weeks Traffic Circle. It is now called Weeks Crossing.

This photo taken in 1951 shows the metal structure of the future Woodman Park School being erected by the athletic fields.

The Dover Public Library is set off by the large lawn in front of the building and the Soldiers and Sailors monument in the driveway. The large brick building to the right of it started as the Dover High School, became the Dover Junior High School, and is now the McConnell Center.

Dover Point was much more rural in 1951. You can see the old railroad bed on the right which forms the base for Spur Road.

Central Avenue in 1951. The Broaway Bridge is visible in the center of the photograph. The roof of St. John's United Methodist Church is shining on the right side. Peirce Memorial Church is seen south of the bridge. This church has since been torn down.
